You do not know where the studs are

Found and confirmed by drilling a locating hole in the bracket footprint, not just by trusting a stud finder over plaster or over a wall with strapping behind it.

The wall is brick, block or concrete

Common in older Ottawa buildings and in basements. Different anchors, different drill, and a genuinely secure result — often more secure than drywall and studs.

You want the cables hidden

In-wall routing needs to be done to code with the right rated cable, or run through a surface raceway that gets painted to match. We will explain the difference and let you pick.

There is no outlet behind the TV

New receptacles are licensed electrical work. We will mount the TV and route the cabling; an ECRA-licensed contractor adds the outlet. We can tell you what to ask for.

You have mounted it before and it sags

Bracket into drywall anchors. It will hold until it does not. Re-mounted into framing with the old holes patched.

    Tidy the cables

    Routed in-wall with rated cable or concealed in painted raceway.

What it costs

Standard stud-wall mounts are $145–$190. Brick, block or concrete runs $190–$265. In-wall cable routing adds $50–$95. Multiple TVs in one visit are cheaper per unit.

Frequently asked — TV Mounting Ottawa

Can you mount a TV on a plaster wall?

Yes. Older plaster over lath needs care — the bracket must reach the studs behind, and pilot holes stop the plaster cracking. It is a slower job than modern drywall, not a harder one.

Can you hide the cables inside the wall?

Yes, using in-wall rated cable. HDMI and low-voltage can go through the wall; a standard power cord cannot, which is why the tidiest results usually involve an electrician adding a recessed outlet.

Do you supply the bracket?

You can, or we will source one to suit the TV size and the wall. Buying your own is generally cheaper and there is no downside.
